Who Are We?
In 1968 two existing Stamford congregations, an American Baptist and a United Methodist, joined in a federated church (a union of denominations) called the Stamford Community Church.
Today, we operate largely as a non-demoninational community church. The majority of our members belong to the community church and not to any one denomination.
What Do We Believe?
We proclaim the Bible as the uniquely inspired Word of God and the final authority in all matters of faith and life; as well as the history of the Christian faith as revealed in its pages and practiced by the apostles.
There is only one God who manifests Himself as three co-eternal, co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This Holy Trinity created all things. The Son, however, was sent by the Father to the earth to redeem the human race.
Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. We proclaim His Deity, His sinless life, His death on the cross for our sin, His bodily resurrection and ascension, and His present intercession on our behalf. We remember His death in the observance of the Lord’s Supper, as He commanded.
Jesus Christ is our Savior and only way to Eternal Life. We experience complete forgiveness and spiritual rebirth when we turn from our sin and receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. The indwelling Holy Spirit then helps us to grow in our faith and gives us total assurance of Eternal Life.
We believe in One Church which is the Body of Christ with members of His Body throughout the world. We gather locally in His name to offer him our worship, praise, and service.
Believers may also express their identification with the Lord, His death, and resurrection through the sacrament of Baptism.
What is Our Mission?
As servants of Jesus Christ, we seek to lead lives that are worthy of our Lord and that bring honor and glory to His name.
We seek to encourage each other in our Christian walk, to remember each other in prayer, and to aid each other in time of need, without judgment, as we are all children of God.
We seek to spread the Gospel locally and worldwide by our contributions and by our personal witness.
We seek to train our children in the ways of the Lord and strive to show them the Power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
What is Our Practice?
We regularly meet for Bible teaching, fellowship, worship, breaking of bread, prayer, and praise.
We teach our children the way of the Lord through a strong Christian education program.
We give our time, talent, and treasure to help spread the Gospel and God’s love locally and worldwide.
